Why Women Are Getting Botox in Their Vaginas
As our Harley Street Pain Clinic Vulva Doctors have seen: “just lately, a number of women are turning to intimate Botox in the name of health. – This is to ease vaginal pain, spasms and other uncomfortable symptoms that often linger long after childbirth” [1]
Putting a Stop to Pelvic Pain Months & Years Post-Childbirth
These days, “it’s crucial for women to understand that they don’t have to simply endure these discomforts as an unavoidable consequence of childbirth. Modern medical advancements offer solutions that can significantly alleviate these issues, allowing women to regain their sense of well-being and confidence” [1]. And this is why our Vulva Pain Specialists have seen that so many mums are turning to Vaginal Botox. Moreover, all our Pain Doctors are mindful that due to the severe stretching of the pelvic floor muscles and the trauma of giving birth, muscular damage is often inevitable. Furthermore, when there is such muscular imbalance, mums can experience pelvic pain, spasms and tension, later down the line [1]. And this is a scenario that A GP cannot usually help with.
Post-Delivery Pelvic Pain is a Widespread Issue
Did you know research indicates that approximately: “half of women experience pelvic floor dysfunction within 10 years of giving birth?” Furthermore, as our Vulva Doctors regularly explain, whilst: “Botox is well-known for its cosmetic benefits, it can also be used to relax the pelvic floor muscles, relieving issues like painful intercourse, spasms and overall vaginal discomfort”[1]. Indeed, the National Institutes of Health, state that: “The available studies show that Botox injections significantly reduce pain levels and improve quality of life at 6 months follow-up” [2].

Vagina/Vulva Botox Injections
Generally speaking, Botox injections last for a period of 3 to 6 months before you need a repeat injection. However, it has to be said that whilst the Botox itself wears off within this window, the decreased pain and amelioration from muscular relaxation can be long-lasting when Botox is combined with dilator use and other therapies.
